The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a midnight raid on Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos, leading to the arrest of over 100 people, including Lagos socialite and club owner Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, and former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh.
According to a statement released by the agency’s Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday, cartons of banned substances, including Loud (a strain of cannabis) and laughing gas (Nitrous Oxide), were recovered from the venue during the operation, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The NDLEA stated that operatives, acting on credible intelligence, had infiltrated the club around 11:00 PM on Saturday before moving in on the gathering at about 3:00 AM based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The raid was carried out at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, where a “drug party was going on.”
Tuoyo Confirms Arrest, Expresses Displeasure
Confirming his arrest, former BBN housemate Tuoyo took to his Instagram page on Sunday to lament his ordeal and express displeasure. He wrote that he had been arrested “for basically doing nothing at all” since around 4:00 AM, and that over 150 people were being held at the NDLEA headquarters in Ikoyi. “we didn’t commit any crime, they came with guns inside and the club and told everyone to lie down,” he stated.
Cocaine Intercepted at Lagos Airport
In a separate development, the NDLEA announced that it has intercepted 70 parcels of cocaine concealed inside cocoa butter body cream containers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.
The cocaine, weighing 3.6 kilograms, was discovered on October 14, 2025, during the examination of cargo declared as personal effects and bound for London, United Kingdom.
The agency arrested the cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, who presented the consignment. Subsequent investigations over two weeks led to the arrest of two other principal suspects: Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a female healthcare worker, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, the Chief Executive Officer of a travel agency, Mutiu Adebiyi & Co.
Other Significant Drug Seizures Nationwide
The NDLEA reported several other successful operations across the country:
- Enugu Airport: Officers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA) in Enugu foiled an attempt by a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, to smuggle 103.59 grams of methamphetamine concealed in a Diabeta herbs coffee tea pack to the Philippines on October 22.
- Kwara State: 21,950 capsules of Tramadol 250mg were intercepted, hidden inside a 100-litre water heater. The suspect, Umar Abubakar (40), was arrested on October 21 at Bode Saadu.
- Taraba State: Auwal Musa (26) and Salihu Bala (22) were arrested on October 21 with 450,000 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 being conveyed in a truck from Onitsha to Mubi.
- Lagos (Lekki): Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, a mother of two and alleged major distributor of high-grade cannabis known as Loud across parts of Lagos, was arrested on October 17 with 500 grams of the substance at her Lekki home.
- Lagos (Ikorodu): NDLEA operatives raided the home of Ogunyabo Adenigbigbe and recovered 275 litres of skuchies—a cocktail of blackcurrant drink, cannabis, and opioids.
- Kogi State: 162.2kg of skunk was seized from a truck on the Okene/Lokoja highway on October 24.
- Other Arrests: Significant arrests and seizures of skunk, Tramadol, and Rohypnol were also made in Nasarawa, Abia, Ondo, Kaduna, and the Seme border area of Lagos.
Arrest with AK-47 in Zamfara
In an unrelated but coordinated effort, NDLEA operatives on patrol along the Gummi–Anka road in Zamfara State on October 20 arrested Abubakar Ibrahim (30) with an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 rounds of ammunition for AK-47 and GPMG rifles. The suspect was allegedly transporting the weapons from Sokoto to the Bagega forest, and he was subsequently handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), commended the officers for their commitment and urged them to sustain the agency’s offensive against drug traffickers and the ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign nationwide.
