JUST IN: ADC Suspends South-South Vice Chairman Usani Over Anti-Party Activities, Insubordination

ABUJA — The Cross River State Working Committee (SWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended the party’s National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dr. Usani Usani.

In a statement issued Monday in Abuja, the party said the suspension, which takes immediate effect, was due to “actions capable of undermining the unity and progress of the party.”

The decision was made at an SWC meeting on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. State Publicity Secretary, James Otudor, said the committee examined multiple petitions against Usani, “alleging anti-party activities, insubordination to constituted authority, and actions deemed detrimental to the image and electoral fortunes of the ADC.”

“In accordance with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures, Dr. Usani’s suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of a formal investigation by the relevant party organs,” the statement read.

In the same statement, the Cross River SWC raised two other significant issues:

1. Dispute Over Deputy Spokesperson’s Appointment

The committee faulted the national appointment of Ms. Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, citing a lack of consultation with the Cross River leadership. Otudor alleged Wayas has shown “little engagement” with the state chapter and questioned her loyalty. The SWC urged the National Leadership to “review her appointment and replace her with a competent, credible, and media-savvy individual from Cross River State.”

2. Warning to Coalition Members

The chapter warned individuals within the “Coalition Movement” who have publicly declared for the ADC but failed to complete their membership registration. Warning that it will not tolerate “dual membership,” the party issued a deadline. “All coalition leaders and intending members are directed to complete their registration at their respective ward levels within seven days, ending Saturday, October 25, 2025, or risk exclusion from leadership and decision-making processes,” the statement added.

The Cross River ADC concluded by reaffirming its loyalty to the national leadership and urged all members to “remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast” as the party’s internal disciplinary mechanisms take their course.
