JOS – Gunmen have attacked Daron village in Gyel District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing two people and injuring one.
The attack occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Solomon Dalyop, a community leader and President of the Berom Youths Moulders Association, confirmed the killings to reporters in Jos on Wednesday. He identified one of the deceased as Mr. Pam Choji.
Dalyop alleged the assailants were “bandits suspected to be armed Fulani” who “just opened fire on the community.” He added that the attack followed an “early warning of planned raids on villages of Gyel and neighbouring settlements.”
The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the incident. Command Spokesman Alabo Alfred stated, “Yes, we are aware of the incident… we are moving to the community right now.”
This latest incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the state. Governor Caleb Mutfwang recently reiterated his administration’s determination, alongside security agencies, “to end these nefarious activities” and called on perpetrators to “renounce violence and embrace peace.”
The attack comes less than two weeks after gunmen killed two people along the Barkin Ladi-Dorowa Babuje road on October 9. Those victims were reportedly ambushed while returning from a security meeting.
