Army Frees Two Kidnap Victims, Seizes ₦3.8 Million Ransom in Kogi


 

The troops from the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, stationed in Lokoja, successfully secured the release of two kidnapped individuals and recovered a ransom of ₦3.8 million intended for their captors.

This information was confirmed in a statement released on Monday in Lokoja by the Brigade Spokesperson, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi.

🔎 Details of the Rescue Operation

* Location and Time: The rescue operation took place on Sunday, November 2, in the Achigili Forest along the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule road.

* Intelligence and Action: Troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Oguma received reliable intelligence regarding ongoing kidnapping activities in the area and reports that the victims’ families were attempting to deliver a ransom.

* Encounter: The soldiers swiftly launched a patrol to the location. While on their way, the troops were met with gunfire from the criminals. The soldiers retaliated with “superior firepower,” compelling the bandits to flee into the forest, leaving behind the two victims and the ransom money.

* Victims and Recovery: The two victims (one male and one female) were rescued. The troops recovered the entire sum of ₦3.8 million intended for the ransom payment, which was immediately returned to the victims.

🛡️ Army’s Commitment

Lt. Abdullahi stated that the Nigerian Army remains “resolute and unwavering” in its commitment to protecting the lives and property of the populace. He urged the public to continue providing timely and reliable information to the military and other security agencies to assist in combating criminal elements in the state.
