Bauchi Police Apprehend Two Suspects in Motorcycle Theft Case

The Bauchi State Police Command has detained two individuals on suspicion of criminal conspiracy, stealing, and possessing stolen property within the Darazo Local Government Area of the state.

* The Arrest: The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, released a statement on Sunday confirming the arrests, which took place on Saturday. The police acted following a tip-off from a concerned resident who was approached by the suspects, who were asking about motorcycle dealers.

* Suspicious Behavior: The incident was reported on November 1, 2025. A citizen informed the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters that earlier that morning, two unknown persons riding a red Boxer Bajaj motorcycle came to his garage in Kari village and displayed suspicious conduct while inquiring about potential buyers.

🔍 Investigation and Confessions

A team of detectives, under the direction of Divisional Police Officer (DPO) SP Auwalu Ilu, quickly responded to the location and took the two individuals into custody.

* Suspects Identified: The suspects were identified as Nura Yau and Bayero Isah, both 25 years old and residing in Akuyam village, Misau LGA.

* Confessions: During questioning, the two men admitted to stealing motorcycles from various locations, including Akuyam village on September 30, 2025, and from a Juma’at Mosque in Darazo town. It was further established that a 50-year-old man, Auwal Adamu, is the rightful owner of the motorbike stolen in Darazo.

* Next Steps: The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

🗣️ Call for Vigilance and Prior Police Action

The Police Command urged residents to remain watchful and immediately report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, emphasizing that “prevention is better than cure.”

The report also briefly referenced a recent success where the Command rescued two kidnap victims and arrested two suspects linked to the incident.

* Previous Kidnap Incident: In that earlier case, reported on October 25, 2025, a resident reported an attempted abduction at his home. When the five assailants failed to find him, they instead kidnapped his girlfriend and a friend. Police detectives, acting swiftly, intercepted the suspects in a red Mercedes-Benz vehicle along Gidan Mai Jos Road, Bauchi.
