NOTTINGHAM, UK — Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Nuno Espírito Santo following a dismal eight-match winless run that has left the club in a precarious position.
The decision comes just hours after the team’s comprehensive 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, a result that sealed the Portuguese manager’s fate.
Santo’s brief and troubled tenure saw the club fail to secure a single victory. The poor stretch included six defeats and an early exit from the Carabao Cup, where they surrendered a late lead to lose 3-2 to Swansea City.
The only points Forest managed to secure under his recent leadership were from draws against Burnley in the Premier League and Real Betis in the Europa League.
The club is expected to announce an interim manager shortly as the search for a permanent successor begins immediately.
