Chelsea Pile Misery on Forest with Commanding 3-0 Win

NOTTINGHAM, UK — Chelsea secured a commanding 3-0 victory over a struggling Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday, piling more pressure on manager Nuno Espírito Santo as his side’s winless streak extended to eight Premier League matches.

Despite the eventual scoreline, Forest started the match brightly. Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi, making his first start of the season, added a much-needed physical presence to the home side’s attack. The hosts created several early chances, with Morgan Gibbs-White skying a close-range volley and Danilo firing just wide after a promising build-up. However, their failure to convert proved costly.

Chelsea, missing key midfielders Cole Palmer and Moisés Caicedo, grew into the game and emerged transformed after half-time. The breakthrough came shortly after the restart when Raheem Sterling burst down the left wing and delivered a pinpoint cross for Nicolas Jackson to tap in the opener. Just three minutes later, Conor Gallagher doubled the lead with a superb strike from the edge of the box, leaving the home crowd stunned.

Forest’s defence struggled to cope with the visitors’ pressure, though they were unlucky not to pull a goal back when a powerful header from defender Murillo cannoned off the post. Chelsea captain Reece James put the result beyond doubt with a late third goal, volleying home from a half-cleared corner.

The victory was slightly marred for Chelsea by a late red card for defender Malo Gusto, but it did little to dampen the mood. The defeat leaves Forest in a precarious position, with owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly leaving his seat long before the final whistle. For Chelsea, the result continues their recent dominance at the City Ground, marking their fourth win in their last five visits.
