The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three notorious drug dealers and confiscated nearly 24,000 assorted illicit drugs during raids in several parts of the state.
Confirming the arrests in Dutse on Tuesday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, said joint intelligence-led raids were conducted by units from Garki, Fagam, and Maigatari divisions on October 18, 2025.
The suspects were identified as Muhammad Garba, 60, from Mekiya village in Kano State; Musa Garba, 55; and Hudu Ma’ilu from Guneri village in Niger Republic. Adam noted they had been under surveillance for suspected drug trafficking within Jigawa and neighboring states.
A total of 23,944 assorted illicit drugs were recovered. The spokesperson detailed the seizure, which included:
- 13,505 units of Exol
- 1,583 units of D5
- 3,572 Tramadol tablets
- 565 Diazepam capsules
- 2,469 bottles of Rubber Solution
- Cannabis (in block form and 886 wraps)
- Other hard drugs including Sock and Die, Akurkura, and 340 units of Farin Malam.
Adam highlighted that this large quantity of drugs poses a significant threat to the youth and communities in the state. “The suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing thorough investigations, and will be charged in court after preliminary inquiries,” he stated.
The state Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammed, praised the officers involved for their courage and dedication. The command reiterated its unwavering determination and zero-tolerance policy on drug-related crimes, appealing to the public to continue supporting law enforcement by promptly reporting any suspicious activities.
