The Kebbi State Government has rejected reports claiming a bandit attack on Maku-ku village in the Sakaba Local Government Area, labeling the news as false and misleading.
The denial follows a broadcast by a local FM radio station in Birnin Kebbi, which suggested that several people were killed in the alleged attack.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, clarified the matter, explaining that the incident actually took place in Rijau, a community in neighboring Niger State, not in Kebbi. He emphasized that no such attack occurred within Kebbi State.
“There was no such incident in Kebbi. The report is misleading and capable of causing unnecessary panic,” Idris said.
The state’s rejection of the report is part of an ongoing effort to combat misinformation, reassure residents, and maintain calm. Idris also noted that the military base established in Sakaba by the state government had strengthened security in the area. He urged residents to disregard the report and go about their normal activities, affirming that security agencies have full support to maintain peace across the state.
