A dramatic late header from Harry Maguire in the 84th minute secured a stunning 2-1 victory for Manchester United over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
Maguire rose to meet an inch-perfect delivery from Bruno Fernandes, glancing the ball past goalkeeper Alisson Becker to seal all three points for the visitors and deny Liverpool a draw after a hard-fought second-half comeback.
United stunned the home crowd just two minutes into the match when Marcus Rashford broke free on a through ball and finished coolly to give his side a shock early lead.
The early goal left Liverpool chasing the game for long periods. Despite sustained pressure and repeatedly hitting the woodwork, their efforts were consistently thwarted until late in the second half.
The breakthrough for the hosts finally came in the 78th minute when Cody Gakpo was perfectly positioned to turn in a cross from Mohamed Salah at close range, leveling the score at 1-1 and setting up a frantic finish.
However, just six minutes later, Maguire’s decisive header silenced Anfield, ensuring Manchester United left with a memorable win.
