The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has issued a stern warning to its personnel to remain apolitical and neutral while carrying out their professional duties.
The Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of the Special Operations Command in Bauchi, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Usman Abdullahi, delivered the charge on Saturday during the NAF’s 2025 annual 10-kilometre walk and jog exercise.
AVM Abdullahi reminded the officers and airmen of their constitutional duty to avoid political entanglements, emphasizing that discipline and loyalty to the nation are non-negotiable.
“You must remain apolitical. Do not involve yourselves in any political activities and do not engage in acts that are inimical to the calling of our military profession,” he cautioned, urging them to remain loyal to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
The AOC explained that the annual fitness exercise was designed to promote physical and mental well-being, enhance cohesion, and ensure the combat readiness of all personnel.
Speaking at the event, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, praised the participants for their discipline and determination. He said the exercise symbolized the unity and teamwork among security agencies in the state.
“Seeing officers, airmen, airwomen, sister security services, paramilitary agencies, and NYSC members come together in such a lively atmosphere reminds us that sports and fitness can be powerful tools for strengthening peace and solidarity,” the governor stated.
Governor Mohammed also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the NAF and other security agencies to maintain peace and stability in Bauchi State.
The event concluded with awards presented to 32 participants, including NAF personnel and officers from other security services, for their outstanding performance.
