Senator Ned Nwoko has addressed a viral video of his wife, actress Regina Daniels, in distress, attributing her recent outburst to what he described as a battle with drug and alcohol abuse.
In a detailed Instagram post on Sunday, Nwoko claimed that substance abuse is the primary cause of the ongoing crisis in their marriage.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem,” he wrote. “She must continue her rehabilitation programme, or I fear for her life and safety.”
The senator alleged that in his absence, Regina went on a violent rampage at their residence, destroying property and assaulting staff members.
“She slapped and hit three staff in the past 48 hours and destroyed property, including cars and windows, for no just cause,” Nwoko stated, expressing concern that she has now relocated to a place with “unrestricted access to drugs.” He added that he had previously offered her two rehabilitation options, either in Asokoro or Jordan.
Nwoko also implicated his wife’s associates, whom he labelled “drug suppliers,” in escalating the situation. “While I took Moon to the hospital, a scene of chaos unfolded at home, orchestrated by Sammy, Regina’s main drug supplier,” he alleged, also naming another individual called Ann.
His statement follows a video that circulated widely on Saturday, showing a highly agitated Regina Daniels shouting during a confrontation. In the clip, she is heard saying, “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a Queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.”
In a sharp rebuttal to Nwoko’s claims, the actress’s brother, Samuel “Sammy West” Ojeogwu, took to Instagram to accuse the senator of physical assault. Vowing to defend his sister, he wrote, “Anywhere wey man dey beat woman, whether na my sister or not, I go fight with my blood.”
The exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, and Regina Daniels and her representatives have not yet officially responded to Nwoko’s allegations.
The couple, who married in 2019, has consistently been a subject of public attention, partly due to the 40-year age difference between them.
