Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has lauded Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest man, for his profound humility and modest lifestyle despite his immense fortune.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Omokri portrayed the billionaire industrialist as a man of discipline and focus who embodies simplicity and respect.
“He is the wealthiest black person on the planet, yet he lives simply and plainly and attracts virtue like a magnet,” Omokri wrote.
Recounting a recent experience of spending several days with the Dangote Group founder, the social commentator said he was struck by the billionaire’s modesty. “I was with him for some days, and from his feet to his head, I never saw him in designer clothes or even a wristwatch—no gold or silver,” he stated.
Omokri also highlighted Dangote’s respectful nature, noting, “He spoke to his domestic staff in my presence with as much courtesy as a diplomat talks to his peers.”
According to Omokri, Dangote’s discipline extends to his meticulous time management, as he prioritises productivity and meaningful engagement over appearances. “His respect for time is sublime,” Omokri noted. “Alhaji packs so much value into his time by either meeting or teaming up with people who want to advance Nigeria’s economy and fight poverty. He does not waste your time or his.”
In his conclusion, Omokri attributed the business mogul’s success to his focus on ideas and purpose rather than material wealth.
“He has gotten ahead by letting ideas and goals permeate his heart while being careful not to let wealth get to his head,” Omokri wrote. “May God bless Africa by giving us more men like Alhaji Aliko Dangote.”
